What is immediate loading? Immediate loading, otherwise known as Immediate Function, involves the placement of restoration within 48 hours of implant placement. It can be applied if sufficient primary stability is achieved – for a single tooth restoration, this is known as immediate provisionalization.
Immediate implant placement is defined as a placement of a dental implant at the time of tooth extraction, into the extraction socket.
Immediate loading is very often defined in terms of timing at a single dental visit as dental implant placement. This procedure is often advantageous in assisting soft-tissue contour.
Advantages and disadvantages. The primary advantages of placing immediate implants are the reduction in time of therapy, reduction in surgical episodes, and preservation of the bone and gingival tissues.
